Sinclair’s Fresca Salad With House Dressing -Montgomery, Alabama
#6 or #94 on my MEGABITE countdown Tasty Tuesday
*100 Dishes to eat in Alabama before you die is a compilation of food to chow down on Bama style. Thanks to Tourism Alabama, www.alabama.travel my Alabama bucket list just became a little easier. I am going to have some fun while making my way like Ms. Pacman, in yet another state that I call home. Download the alphabetical brochure that begins in Abbertville and ends in York. From the little old diner to the white cloth joint, it is an opportunity to explore and experience pride in the food from restaurateurs who are dedicated to local food with some Alabama style. I have no order to how I try these dishes and fly around Alabama by the seat of my pants. I use a 5 MEGASTAR rating. Enjoy my take on Alabama’s best.
Sinclair’s is located in the Montgomery neighborhood of Old Cloverdale. This spot has; great restaurants, shops, architecture, theater and history.
Here is my two cents on The Fresca Dinner Salad. The portion was very good. They did not skimp on the items in the salad. Nothing annoys me more than to pay a good price for a salad and for your hard earned money you get a bowl of lettuce and a few tidbits.
The fresca dinner salad has; avocado slices, artichoke hearts, almonds, tomatoes, mushrooms, sliced black olives (albeit from a can) and shredded mozzarella, served over a bed of fresh greens, to be served with the house dressing. The wait staff was unable to cite what kind of dressing it is. My guess is a herb vinaigrette?
I give this two * * MEGASTAR for the delicious fresh ingredients. Sinclair’s fits the mission statement of The Alabama Board of Tourism to f eat in some of Alabama’s most interesting places. Old Cloverdale area is a fun spot!
- A brie fan? Order the fried brie with your salad for a few bucks more. I get this defeats the purpose of a healthy salad. But, I am from Wisconsin, the brie is deep fried. Enough said.
- There is a lot of great eats, theater, arts and architecture in this area. Without reservations, It is best not to try Sinclair’s on a Capri Theater night. I tired to get a reservation but that’s another story.
- There is an outdoor seating area and I imagine this salad on a warm summer day in a cafe/bistro like setting.
- Someone thought I have to eat this salad in Alabama before I die. visiting Sinclair’s was fun. One of my choices for a unique Alabama experience would have been to visit the funky El Rey Burrito Lounge, Located just a few doors down from Sinclair’s, you can try a unique Kale Or Quinoa Salad with their homemade lime cilantro vinaigrette. This establishment supports local farmers using organic practices and highlights unique foods of Montgomery and Alabama.
