Ginny Lane Bar & Grill 100 Dishes To Eat In Alabama Before You Die
Shrimp and Grits at Ginny Lane Bar & Grill of Orange Beach Alabama, was my 72nd Dish or 28th if I am counting down on my quest to try all of the
Not going to lie, I was not looking forward to eating grits, again. However, one bite in, I knew that this was no ordinary shrimp and grits.
Made with sautéed Gulf Shrimp, Tomatoes, Bacon, Thyme, Rosemary, Green Onions, Shallots, Garlic, and Chardonnay Cream Sauce Over Cheddar Grits.
This dish had me at Gulf Shrimp, cheddar and chardonnay cream sauce. #WOW #YUM #KABAM
The Pecan And Pear Salad was outstanding. A $10 value for this well portioned gourmet salad. I was able to split this salad, I mean I need something healthy before I dive into cream, butter, cream, cheese and bacon, right? Made with Spring Mix Greens, Goat Cheese Crumbles, Candied Pecans, Fresh Strawberries, Pear Slices, and topped with a Raspberry Vinaigrette. I would also give this salad a 5*****
I was also able to taste the Bacon Wrapped Gulf Shrimp $22. Served with Gouda Smashed Red Potatoes, Green Beans, Cherry Barbecue Sauce. Gouda potatoes always trips my trigger. Delicious 5 *****
I have to save the best for last. They serve this dinner roll that was crusty on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. The spread was maybe cream cheese based with scallions or chives and drizzled with honey? 5***** on this deliciousness.
Anyway,Whatever it was, I was put under their spell. YUM! This was so delicious. Since I was already carb loading, I had to have two, I mean baskets.
MEGastars 5 ***** Fresh local Gulf Shrimp served with quality grits in a unique way.
More about my experience at Ginny Lane located at “The Wharf” of Orange Beach, Alabama.
SERVICE – Outstanding. 5/5 I went without a reservation during a busy time but the staff was kind to accommodate me and make sure that I was comfortable waiting.
ATMOSPHERE– 3.5 to 5, Depending upon where you are seated. In this restaurant, there is a lot of colorful art and a New Orleans like scene painted on the dining room walls. The kitchen is open to the diners. Of course, if you are lucky enough to be seated on the patio by the bay, this too can be your 5 * view.
VALUE– 5/5 Although family casual, the food is fine dining. I wanted to try that $10.00 salad and planned to split the portion so that was right for me. This salad could easily have been my meal. However, there is a $5.00 side salad on the menu that I would have been happy to enjoy prior to my grits. Either way my delicious meal was portioned correctly at the fair price point of $23.00. Good grits take time.
MENU 5/5 -The menu is American casual and has something for everyone. With fresh Gulf seafood, pasta, salads, and quality beef your choices will be difficult. A Kids Menu is available.
More Information. This restaurant is located in an area a few miles from the busy Alabama Coast in an area known as The Wharf. The Wharf is located on an intercostal waterway, and a visitor could arrive by boat. Meant to be a destination itself, there is a Ferris Wheel, an amphitheater that brings in the likes of Miranda Lambert, boutique shopping, cigar and daiquiri bars, restaurants and live music. There is a marina, condos and rental condos. A Marriott is located nearby. The night that I was there, some kind of crazy kids party was happening. The street was shut down inside the wharf, music and strobe lights were flashing and the kids were dancing in the streets.
After this visit, I googled this phenomena and learned from the website that this is called SPECTRA . Spectra incorporates sophisticated choreographed lighting effects with popular, surround sound music delivering a truly unique entertainment experience unlike anything else. Music is specifically selected to engage audiences of all ages. The Wharf is flooded with light as Main Street is transformed into a magical stage where the palm trees are energized with life and become the stars of the show.”
