Visiting Ovenbird was another fantastic Alabama stop that I likely will never forget. This experience has once again enlightened my culinary world. My brain literally grew tired as I wrote and thought about the complicated food that I was so very fortunate to taste at Ovenbird. I truly appreciate my Ovenbird visit and it will remain in the top of my Alabama and all-time National/World restaurant experiences. The Birmingham Alabama food scene is outstanding!
This dessert is a mix between a flourless cake and a soufflé, but, with sorcery on the inside. When you fork hits the middle, a flow of warm, silky chocolate flows out. This dessert is a chocolate lovers dream. Seduction.
Except, that I am not a Venice Italy award winning pizza chef schooled in Rome. So there is that. I am, however, happy that I get to visit Chef Christophe’s restaurant.
Chef Frank Stitt, his wife Paradis, and the entire crew are worthy of their many accolades and awards including James Beard. Bring your company to any one of the three Stitt establishments and you are sure to impress. Desserts by James Beard nominee Dolester Miles
Of course, visiting the State Fair in my new home state of Alabama was high on my bucket list. I went with four things in mind: food, animals, and entertainment.
So I caught my roll but here is the thing.
I have said this before, I was not looking forward to eating grits, again. This dish had me at Gulf Shrimp, cheddar and chardonnay cream sauce. #WOW #YUM #KABAM
